Evening I was hoping to find someone who has been to both resorts? We are going to in a few weeks and are looking to book our 25th Aniversary trip for next year. We have looked at which I am aware is huge compared to Kandolhu and has no reef but next year we are looking for luxury food and beach but are prepared to go without the reef house reef. Is Ozen on par with food, wine and service with Kandolhu or will we be disappointed. Really want somewhere new rather then returning to Kandolhu but don't want to feel like we 'downgraded' It is Sept next year and budget complicated because it involves first but when pricing just the Maldives bit - wanted to keep around 15k ( inc bus class flights ) which is the amount we are paying for Kandolhu. Other suggestions welcomed!!
Thanks again. Beside the size, OZEN is quite an artificial island. I can hardly imagine you'll lilke it when you have been satisfied with, completely different! When we stayed there September 2016 we had issues with food in main restaurant, especially in terms of choice, quality depending on the dish. For me, it was far away from though is the signature island of atmosphere resorts. We adressed all and perhaps it changed.
One afternoon I wanted to go for some salad bowl at pool bar. Only Pizza/Wraps and something like that on the menu. Underwater M6m was phantastic, IndoCeylon was ok, Peking we didn' try. In terms of food for me Kandolhu. Wine selection at OZEN was good, including champagne. As Kandolhu is much more smaller, you get more personal service, but still was ok at OZEN, no complaints. Keep in mind, main can get quite crowded and noisy depending on occupancy.
I would suggest, perfect place for food lovers. If you wanna go on AI package, have a look at Park Hyatt and already named Konotta. Should all be among the same price rage. Edited: 5:42 am, August 20, 2017. We like a nice villa with a good house reef that is easily accessible from the beach. We prefer to be remote from Male.
So and Konotta fit the bill for us.except Konotta nowadays is much more value for money. Huge villas, all with pools. There is more than one eatery (all are a la carte) on Konotta; it will depend on your meal plan package what you get included. We have been on BB which gave us freedom to eat in Blue Salt, in Nala Rah, at the beach/pool bar or to use in villa dining. We have also been HB, where included meals are taken in Blue Salt. • Which Resort island should we choose? • Can we visit the Maldives on a limited budget?
